saki is excited to present a free, all-ages in-store with Good Willsmith and Angel Eyes on Wednesday, October 10th at 5pm. Good Willsmith is three Chicago-dwelling human beings who make music together out of extended loops, analog synth elements, and standard rock instrumentation processed through huge chains of electronics. Each live session maintains a constant drone and inches human existence at a glacial pace towards the plane of gods both astral and terrestrial: Pandit Pran, Nath, Saturn, Brian Eno, Merzbow. Good Willsmith recently released their second full-length album (the first physical album), Is The Food Your Family Eats Slowly. Recorded live in studio, Natalie Chami constructs overlapping loops of lead voices and choral synth harmonies. Doug Kaplan infuses his neo-Frippertronics with bursts of harsh noise and extended tremolo picking. Max Allison aims for maximum sustain as his bass tones swell into deep, foundational drones. The trio’s structured improvisations channel Music for Airports and Maggot Brain. Angel Eyes is the solo vessel of Melbourne-based artist Andy C. 2010 saw the release of Dire Dish, his debut recording on Not Not Fun. It’s a slow motion psych fest, with dusted drum machines, drones and twangy guitars at its core. This year his second release Vice to Vice was released on the eclectic and exciting Minneapolis label Moon Glyph - more upbeat yet contemplative pop. Currently he works with two drum machines, trash can synths/keyboards, and affected vocals to create a cold form of uneasy/easy listening. “Definitely something searching and monumental and frighteningly beautiful” - Crawl Space Magazine on Angel Eyes “A well-thought-out and eerily COMPLETE album. The apocalyptic drone and electronic thunderstorms build upon each other like Panabrite without some of the harsh edges and fidgety detours.” - Tiny Mixtapes on Good Willsmith saki, founded in 2010, is Logan Square’s premier boutique record store, art gallery, and performance space.
