Chicago-based folk-monster RYLEY WALKER is no stranger to The Empty Bottle stage. In fact, he's damn near family. In March of 2015, he released Primrose Green as one of the Dead Oceans newest musical acts. NPR described the album as having a spirit that is “beyond and is unruly - this is rock’n’roll.” WALKER is an impressive act of solo acoustic finger style guitar tracks that evolve with graceful flow. Circular shimmers and visceral bottleneck slides create songs that take on a life of their own in a live setting. Flowing, earthy acoustic work cascades from WALKER's hands and he's been reborn as a troubadour, which he carries on exploring to this day, sometimes in a Pentangling ensemble, or just solo with voice, wood and strings. It is our pleasure to see him off on an adventure of kangaroos and chips that are fries. Chicago band LUGGAGE is comprised of members of BASIC CABLE, LOOSE DUDES and CLEARED. Though they formed a little over a year ago, they've already given the world a debut LP, Sun, on Automatic Recordings, which they celebrated the release of at the famed Rainbo Club. The trio's dark, noisy blend of shoegaze, post-punk and droning psychedelia is intensely hypnotic. Judging by the members' pedigrees, you can expect a thrilling live set, as we saw in May 2016 when they last played our stage, opening for Austin, TX bad boys SPRAY PAINT. Returning to kick off the evening is ambient experimentalist NATALIE CHAMI’s musical moniker TALSOUNDS. Also a member of experimental trio GOOD WILLSMITH, it’s been a solid three years since CHAMI has been back with her solo improvised set of electronic mindfuckery. It’s about damn time.
